The Sparks PTA plays a vital role in supporting school programs, events, and student success. We are always looking for new volunteers to bring fresh ideas, energy, and support. Family Event Volunteer Opportunities

*As a reminder - in order to volunteer for any opportunity in the school building, you MUST complete BCPS Volunteer Training. This has to be done every year. Submit your completed volunteer certificate to the Sparks front office at least 2 weeks prior to the event for which you want to volunteer!*

Trunk or Treat (Oct 30th)
Help organize and coordinate our annual Trunk or Treat event
Holiday Shop (December 9th-11th)
Volunteers will be needed for set up, clean up, and also to help guide students with their purchasing during their shopping opportunity
Winter Ball (February 20th)
Serve on the planning committee and/or be contacted to volunteer during the event.
Family Game Night (March 27th)
Assist with check-in, food distribution, raffle basket table, and general event logistics.
Shark Shuffle (May 16th)
Serve on the planning committee and help bring our largest fundraiser of the year to life!
General Volunteer Opportunities

Hospitality Committee
Assist with baking and/or set-up for various PTA events and staff appreciation celebrations throughout the school year.
Community Engagement Committee
Help us coordinate and execute community service projects, including our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. We aim to have at least two events a year.

Assist with printing flyers and distributing to mailboxes at Sparks.
PTA Website Assistance
Help us update the website during the year as needed. *Familiarity with Squarespace preferred!*
Cafeteria Volunteer
Volunteer to help students in the cafeteria during lunch! This is always an area of need at the school!! *Volunteers will be contacted by Mrs. Alvarez to coordinate times/dates.*
Finn the Shark - Sparks Mascot
Willing to transform into Finn and provide joy for our students for various events and activities throughout the year? *You will be contacted to check availability each time the need for Finn is identified. No obligation to doing them all!*
Grade Level Volunteer Opportunities

5th Grade Graduation Planning Committee
Help plan and coordinate the graduation ceremony for our 5th graders! There will be a lot of ways to get involved - now and closer to the event in June 2026!
